Donner Ski Ranch offers a traditional ski-area setting with both front- and back-side terrain. An overnight stay in the surrounding Donner Summit region lets you plan the ski day around the resort rather than expecting a hotel village at the lifts.

Match the route to your mountain
Boreal’s directions use I-80 exit 176 for Boreal Ridge Road/Castle Peak. Donner Ski Ranch is on Donner Pass Road; check its current directions before choosing an approach. Old Highway 40 can close in winter, so do not rely on a normal-weather travel estimate. Check road conditions, chain controls, parking and the day’s operating schedule before setting out.

Can I assume the backside stays open until final closing?
No. Check the day’s lift-status instructions. The operator begins closing backside lifts earlier to bring guests off the mountain.
