Badger Pass is worth comparing for a Yosemite winter stay that combines a smaller downhill ski area with other park experiences. Choose your park lodging and ski day together, allowing for a separate drive to the hill.

Where to stay near Badger Pass: plan the ski morning before booking
A Yosemite lodging address and a workable Badger Pass ski day are separate decisions. Match your accommodation to how you will reach the ski area, collect equipment and return after skiing.
- Yosemite West: compare homes and condos when a kitchen and separate bedrooms suit your group. Map the selected unit to Badger Pass rather than treating a Yosemite West address as ski-in/ski-out. Ask the host about driveway snow removal, stairs and overnight parking.
- Yosemite Valley: compare a hotel-room base if Valley sightseeing is also part of your visit. The ski operator advertises a free shuttle from Yosemite Valley, subject to weather, road conditions and limited space. Confirm the current operating dates, pickup stop and last return before relying on it. A Valley hotel booking does not reserve a shuttle seat. At Curry Village, check your exact accommodation type, heating and seasonal availability.
- Wawona: compare cabin layouts and meal-preparation options, then check the complete drive to the ski area. Wawona cabin rentals and Wawona Hotel are separate lodging choices; do not assume the hotel’s status applies to a private rental.
Check the ski road as well as the park entrance. The National Park Service places Badger Pass five miles along Glacier Point Road from Wawona Road. That winter access road is seasonal; the usual mid-December opening period is not a confirmed opening date for your trip. Check current park road conditions and ski operations separately. An accessible hotel does not guarantee access to skiing.
Carry correctly fitting traction equipment and follow NPS chain controls. All vehicles must carry chains in a designated chain-control area, including four-wheel-drive and rental vehicles; installation depends on the posted control and applicable exemptions. Use our road-planning guide for approach-highway links, alongside NPS reports for roads inside Yosemite.

Winter planning reviewed October 25, 2026. The official pages reviewed describe seasonal access and ski services but did not establish a specific 2026–27 opening day. Confirm tickets, lesson check-in, rental pickup and transport for your dates directly with the operator.
Check seasonal lodging availability
The official lodging operator lists Wawona Hotel as closed for a condition assessment. Wawona cabin rentals are separate properties. Verify each property’s dates, park-entry requirements, cancellation terms and complete stay price directly before booking.

Mountain and trip fit
- Ten ski runs in the operator’s published overview.
- 35% beginner, 50% intermediate and 15% advanced.
- Elevations: 7,200 to 8,000 feet; 800 feet of vertical.
Downhill skiing, tubing, snowshoeing and Nordic touring are different activities with different equipment and planning needs. A long cross-country route is not an easy substitute for a beginner downhill lesson.
